a place to unwind

Harbor Yak owner Alexa Hart, and husband Brandon Hart wanted to bring more recreational activity to the historic Ashtabula Harbor and take full advantage of the natural resources at hand. It's something anyone and everyone can enjoy, and until the summer of 2017, Ashtabula was sort of missing out. After about a year of planning, the first kayak rental business in Ashtabula was opened in a boat house that dates back to the late 1800's. Nestled perfectly on the Ashtabula River, Harbor Yak houses a custom kayak launch. Accessibility was key while determining an access point. The dock and launch make it very easy to get in and out of the kayaks/paddle boards/canoes, you don't have to get wet at all. Alexa and Brandon had enjoyed the sport so much and wanted to share it with everyone else.

Harbor Yak is a place you go with your family and friends to relax, and have a good time. While kayaking can be a great workout, there isn't much of a current in the Ashtabula River, so you're really free to go at your own pace, and enjoy the time you have out on the water. You can make a day of it and pack lunch, eat on the water, or at the picnic tables next to the boat house. If you have any questions at all, feel free to reach out at any time!

Come hang out at Harbor Yak!
